STABLING & STALLS

Callum brings with him extensive experience working on racecourse developments aligning property, track and stabling capital works into master plans in his time working at the Australian Turf Club in the position of General Manager – Infrastructure and Racing Projects.  Callum has a unique ability and understanding of essential equine infrastructure requirements through his knowledge and experience of racecourse operations, horse movements and welfare priorities and delivery of racecourse projects in an operational environment.

Delivered projects varied in complexity from feasibility studies, master plans and project delivery. The feasibility study for on-course stabling at Warwick Farm was to determine the suitable location for 700 on-course stable boxes that included completing background due diligence, a SWOT analysis, fit-for-purpose concept designs and upfront cost estimates for any development. Callum also obtained development approval and funding for the Royal Randwick Wansey Equine Precinct that will provide 60 tie-up stalls, 20 stable boxes and amenities for travelling horse to Sydney Carnivals and vet amenities for immediate horse treatment and vetting. In early 2023, Callum project managed tie-up stalls at Warwick Farm Racecourse to provide additional capacity for horses transitioning from off-course stables to on-course training facilities. This project used the latest stable technology from Europe and ensured horse welfare was the priority through suitable stall dimensions, durable products, flush fittings and finishes, fit-for-purpose wash bays and through the utilisation of proven rubber flooring suitable for horses.

These projects are essential to continue to provide premium facilities today and into the future to deliver the horse population requirements for continued world class racing at Sydney’s metropolitan racecourses.
